Classic draughts - Capture all opponent pieces or block their moves
Checkers (Draughts) is a classic two-player strategy board game. Move your pieces diagonally across the board, capture opponent pieces by jumping over them, and reach the opposite end to become a King!
Click a piece to select, then click a valid square to move. Regular pieces move diagonally forward only. Jump over opponent pieces to capture them. Reach the opposite end to promote your piece to a King (can move backwards).
Control the center of the board. Protect your back row to prevent opponent Kings. Force exchanges when you're ahead in pieces.
Checkers is a game of shape and timing. The opening is about claiming space, keeping your pieces connected, and avoiding weak formations that let your opponent force easy captures. Once the board starts to open up, the value of each piece depends on how safely it can move and whether it can become a king.
Good players think about the whole board, not just the next jump. Every move should improve your position or reduce your opponent's choices.
The most common mistake is pushing pieces too far forward without support, which makes them easy to trap or force into bad trades. Another is ignoring the value of kings and letting your opponent promote while you focus only on immediate captures.
A quiet, solid position is often better than a flashy jump sequence. If a move weakens your structure, it is usually not worth it.
